Transforming Dairy industry in Nigeria with improved cattle breed production: Still meeting Food and Nutrition security needs despite Covid-19 odds

Description

Description

Dairy breed improvement is necessary in Nigeria, especially because indigenous cows produce on average 2 litres per day. Foreign exchange regulations introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria has restricted importations of milk and dairy products, thereby increasing the need to improve local dairy productivity through modern technology. The Real People Concept, through their Cattle Hub, are working with youth, women and smallholder farmers to raise annual incomes and productivity through about 500 hybrid heifers that can produce on average up to 10 litres of milk per day.
