Biosecurity measures and effects on health performance and antimicrobial use in semi-intensive broiler farms in Uganda

Description

Description

Biosecurity is considered a critical measure in preventing disease introduction and spread on a farm. However, due to limited resources, biosecurity measures are generally poorly implemented in small-scale, semi-intensive production systems. There is little known about which biosecurity measures are implemented and which need improvement in the context of farm systems in low-income settings. To assess the implementation of biosecurity practices on small-scale, semi-intensive broiler farms, a longitudinal study was conducted to evaluate biosecurity, health performance, and antimicrobial use in small-scale, semi-intensive broiler farms located in Wakiso, Uganda
